Veneers

If you've always dreamed of having a Hollywood smile, we can let you in on the secret the stars use. Those perfect, bright white smiles you see on the red carpet are usually thanks to beautiful, custom-crafted dental veneers. We are pleased to offer dental veneers at our Frisco dental office so you too can have that beautiful, dazzling smile you've always wanted.

What Are Veneers?

Veneers are thin shells, usually made of porcelain, that are fitted over your natural teeth to give your smile a whole new look. Dental veneers can be used to correct a wide variety of imperfections in your teeth, such as:

  • Discolored teeth, especially teeth discolored through tetracycline medications, other drugs, or illness that do not respond well to teeth whitening treatments
  • Worn down teeth
  • Cracked, chipped, or broken teeth
  • Teeth that are uneven or oddly shaped, or have other cosmetic issues such as large pits in the surface
  • Teeth that are too small or have gaps between them

With dental veneers, these and other cosmetic dental issues can be quickly and easily treated, leaving you with a row of white, even teeth that you're proud to show off to the world.

How Do I Get Veneers?

There are a few steps to the veneer process. Frisco dentist Dr. Chitre will first examine your teeth and discuss your desired outcome to determine if veneers are the right option for you. If you and Dr. Chitre decide veneers are a good treatment for your dental issues, we will schedule you for an appointment to prepare your teeth.

Preparing teeth for veneers requires a small amount of tooth material be removed from the front of your teeth. This will ensure that the veneers fit properly and look natural, not bulky or fake. Once your teeth are prepared, we will take x-rays and impressions of your teeth so that your custom-crafted veneers will look natural and fit onto your teeth.

Once your veneers are ready, we will schedule you to have them placed. Dr. Chitre will perform adjustments to the veneers as needed to get the perfect fit, then your teeth will be lightly etched to create a strong bond with the veneers. The veneers are then bonded to your teeth with a special cement that is light cured. The light curing hardens the cement quickly, ensuring that the veneers are properly bonded before you leave our Frisco dental office.

Caring for Veneers

Veneers can last for years with proper care. Make sure to follow-up with our office regularly for your exam and cleaning so that any developing issues with the veneers can be caught and treated simply. Biting on hard foods or non-food items such as ice, hard candies, pens, or pencils can sometimes dislodge your veneers, so try to avoid doing this.
