Dental Implant Restorations

For many years, once a tooth was lost, the only options to replace it were a dental crown or removable dentures. Advances in dentistry have given us a safe, strong, and beautiful alternative for restoring missing teeth: surgical dental implants.

What Are Dental Implants?

Dental implants are as close as modern science has come to replacing your natural teeth. They consist of three parts:

  • A titanium implant is placed into the jawbone and allowed to fuse with the bone, creating a strong anchor for any restoration.
  • An attachment called an abutment fits into the implant. These abutments can be used to anchor a restoration such as a crown or bridge, or to hold a clasp that can be used with removable dentures, providing a more secure fit.
  • The restoration is attached to the abutment. These restorations are usually a crown to restore a single tooth, an implant-supported bridge to restore multiple missing teeth in a single arch, or removable dentures when all of the teeth in a single arch are gone.

With dental implants, you now have a strong, beautiful way to restore a missing tooth – a solution that will last you for years.

How Do I Get Dental Implants?

Our Frisco dental office works exclusively with an excellent oral surgeon in the area to restore implants with customized abutments and porcelain crowns that restore both esthetics and function. If Dr. Chitre determines that you are a good candidate for implants and you choose to begin the treatment, we will refer you to the oral surgeon for implant placement.

Once the implants have healed, a process that usually takes three to six months for the bone to fully fuse with the implant, the implant is uncovered and the abutment is attached. Dr. Chitre and our staff will then take an impression of the area so that a beautiful custom-made crown can be created that will perfectly match your teeth and look and feel natural in your mouth.

The crown is attached to the abutment and you're done! With proper home care and regular examinations and cleanings at our Frisco dental office, your new implant will last for many years and will function just like a natural tooth.

Implant-Supported Bridges

If you are interested in an implant-supported bridge to restore multiple teeth, we will work closely with the oral surgeon to create a bridge that offers an excellent esthetic without compromising strength. Multiple implants will be placed so as to offer a secure foundation for your bridge, and the bridge will be carefully crafted to ensure that it is properly balanced for chewing and biting so that it will last you for many years to come.
